Form 6 File
The Ohio Return of Oil and Gas Properties (Form 6) is submitted to the county auditor for the county that each well resides in.
You will need to submit this form if you pay the full amount of taxes assessed against the property, including taxes assessed against all royalty interests. If you do not pay all taxes assessed against all interests, then you must file form DTE 6, which requires a listing of all royalty interests. You can print your forms directly from within the software if you have purchased the reporting capability for the state of Ohio.
Refer to the Ohio Department of Taxation website for deadlines and any additional information that is needed.
The steps that you will be taking within the software are described below:
Create Form 6 File:
Once all information that needs to be reported has been processed on a run closing, you can Create the Form 6 File. This will calculate the totals that need to be reported, and store the calculated totals in a different place for only this report. This ensures that if any changes are made to your core data after this report is filed you will still be able to see exactly what was filed because that information won't change.
Form 6/6A Summary:
After the totals are calculated, you can view this report to see what was calculated and is going to be reported to the county.
Modify Form 6 File:
This window displays the raw numbers that were calculated for the Form 6 when you created the file. Each total can be edited directly on this window. Any changes made to this window will only affect the totals that are reported to the county. These changes may be needed for a correction, or in situations where everything wasn't processed within SherWare because you started using the software mid-way through the period that is being reported.
Modify Form 6 Owners:
This window displays the raw numbers that were calculated for the Form 6A when you created the file. This is just the information for your owners. Each total can be edited directly on this window. Any changes made to this window will only affect the totals that are reported to the county. These changes may be needed for a correction, or in situations where everything wasn't processed within SherWare because you started using the software mid-way through the period that is being reported.
Print Form 6 & 6A:
Prints the form and totals on blank paper that can be sent to the county.
