Convert Previous Version Data Files

This window allows you to convert data that was from version 5 of the Accounting Manager so that it can be used in version 6.

When you convert the data files from a previous version, a copy of your data from the old version will be made and the copy will be converted to the new version. Your old data will remain unchanged and you can continue to open the old software if desired. Any new information or changes must be entered in the new version after the conversion. If you uninstall the old software, you can manually make a backup and store it in a safe location before uninstalling.

MAKE SURE ALL USERS ARE OUT OF THE SOFTWARE BEFORE CONVERTING!

Step 1: Locate where the old version is installed
You need to specify where the old software (version 5) is installed. This will be looking for two "compmast" files. The folder that you choose here should have both the "compmast.cdx" and the "compmast.dbf" files located within it. This folder will most commonly be named "Accounting Manager Pro" or "AMPro."

Step 2: Select the company to be converted
Once the folder in Step 1 is specified, a list of companies can be chosen from this drop down list. Choose the company that you would like to convert to version 6.

Step 3: Select the location for the new files
Choose the data path that you would like the new (version 6) data files to be stored in. A default path will fill in, but you can change it if you feel this is necessary.

The data in the old location will remain unchanged. Only the data in the new location will be updated to version 6.

If any files are already located in the new location, they will be replaced.

Copy check formats from previous version
This will copy the check formats from the old version. We recommend marking this option so that you do not have to setup the check formats again. If this option is not marked, it will use the default formats.

Convert
Press this button to start the processing of converting the data.
