Create W2 File

W-2 Overview
In order to print the W-2 out of SherWare you will first need to "Create the W2 File". This adds up all of the totals for the year for each employee to determine what amounts are to be reported on the W-2. Once this amounts are calculated you can review them with the "Print W2 Summary" report. If any changes need to be made you can do so with the "Modify W2 File" window. This window will allow you to edit the records that were created as well as delete or add new records to the file. Once all of the numbers are calculated and as you want them, you can "Print W2 Forms" on the preprinted forms available from any office supply store.

Create W2 File
The first step is to create the W2 file. This summarizes and places W2 records into the W2 file.

Year:
Enter the year the W2 records should be created for and then click on the Create button.

Note: If W2 records already exist for the given year, the system will ask you if you want to overwrite them. It is OK to answer yes if you haven't sent the W2s out yet. Any changes that you have made to the W2 file through the Update the W2 File window will be overwritten by re-creating the file.
