Check Formats
SherWare will print on just about any check stock format. Simply order online or from your local office supply store. Any check stock that is advertised to work with QuickBooks will also work with SherWare.
Your checks can have the stub on top, in the middle, on the bottom, or you can leave the stub off and print three checks to a page. You can even print on blank paper if you purchase the MICR Check Printing module with the software.
The check formats can be adjusted within SherWare so that they are properly aligned with whichever check stock you choose. The check printing preferences allow you to determine if you want a duplicate stub, how many lines to include on the stub, if the detail overvlows to the next check, and various other options.
The Report Designer topic will give you more information on how you can align the fields, add lines, text, and images if you would like to further enhance the check stock that you decide to purchase.
You can print checks with a Dot Matrix or Laser Printer. The are the basic check format options that are available for each type of check are listed below.
Dot Matrix - (No Stub): Checks will be printed on a dot-matrix printer with no voucher.
Dot Matrix - (Stub Above): Checks will be printed on a dot-matrix printer with a voucher stub above the check.

You will only see the MICR options if you've purchased the MICR Check Printing optional module.
BACKUP ANY CHECK FORMAT CHANGES!
If any adjustments are made to the check formats, it is a good idea to keep a backup of those changes so that you don't have to re-create them again at a later time. You can backup the check formats with one of the following options:
1) Mark the option to "Include Check Formats in Backup" when creating a backup from within the software on the File menu.
2) Manually create a copy of the "Checks" folder that is located within the installation directory.
3) Manually create a copy of the specific check format files for the check that you have modified. You will need both the .FRT and .FRX files for the respective format. The specific name of these files is listed below:
